In the 2023 legislative session, Keresa Richardson co-sponsored key legislation that will de-fund our local public schools. (SB2) McKinney ISD already has a projected $23M budget deficit and will close three elementary schools at the end of the 2025–2026 school year due to declining enrollment and budget constraints.
Keresa Richardson also co-sponsored legislation limiting law enforcement’s use of red flag laws, hindering their ability to protect communities from violence like mass shootings, domestic abuse and suicides. (SB 1362)
And, against the pleas of law enforcement leaders and child advocates, Keresa Richardson authored a bill exposing children’s advocacy centers to additional risks, and endangering children and families who are already in crisis. (HB 5136)
Our public schools and safe communities are vital for our McKinney quality of life – don’t we deserve a state representative who supports our community instead of pandering to Austin politicians?
